Q: Can I use OverBoards on my electric heaters?
Yes, as long as the electric baseboard meets the dimensional requirements. Also confirm that there is an inch clearance between the floor and the bottom of the heaters, for the OverBoards feet to slide under.
Q: Can they be painted?
Yes, they come powder-coated in white, but can be painted. Our painter recommends that you rough them up a bit (scrubbing pad or light sanding) and apply any interior oil based paint.
Q: Can I cut them myself?
No. OverBoards are at least ¼” thick, and are not designed to be cut-to-fit. We offer custom lengths and can assist you in getting the properly sized assembly for your needs.
Q: Is there a discount for volume? Is that discount cumulative?
No.
Q: What is the best way to measure for a corner?
For an inside corner: Follow the measuring guidelines at www.Go-OverBoard.com.
For an outside corner: Measure to the ends of the two walls that form the outside corner.
Q: Can I still adjust the heat using the fins on my existing heater?
Usually the louver is removed from your existing heater, along with the rest of the sheet metal panels. If you want to try to preserve the louver function, keep all of the original sheet metal intact. Once OverBoards are installed, you may be able to reach into the top vent opening and manipulate the louver.
Q: What are they made of? Will they rust?
OverBoards are made from cast aluminum. They will not rust.
Q: Do I have to remove my OverBoards to clean underneath?
You can vacuum or sweep under the assembly (clearance of about an inch). Unlike your existing baseboard heaters, the top surface of the OverBoards overhangs the front panel; this keeps dust and dirt from settling on the heating element.
Q: Are they easy to install?
Installation is simple with basic tools. For each section, connectors and set screws are included. Attach the connector to the end cap first and tighten down the set screws then slip on the main panel and tighten set screws. A long drill bit is needed to attach your configuration to the wall. See the installation instructions at www.Go-OverBoard.com. A tool kit is available for purchase which includes: extended drill bit 3/16 x 6”, extended Phillips driver 6”, and 3/32 Allen wrench.
Q: Can you send someone out to measure for me? Do you install?
We do not measure and/or install our product. OverBoards are designed to be easily installed by the homeowner, contractor, or handy-man. The measuring and installation instructions can be found at www.Go-OverBoard.com.
Q: My baseboards are nine inches high, what can I do?
OverBoards are designed to fit over existing baseboard heat enclosures up to 8.25” high. If the existing sheet metal backing is taller than 8.25”, it simply means that the backing must be removed from the wall. In those cases, we have available support brackets for the element which should be about every 3 feet.
Q: How much does shipping cost?
We ship UPS, and try to keep shipping costs as low as possible. Shipping costs generally add about 6% to the price of the order.
Q: Can I write a check or pay COD?
We do accept checks, please call us to arrange. We do not ship COD.
Q: Do you charge me credit card right away?
While we take all your credit card information at the point of sale, your charges are not applied until the order is shipped.
Q: How can I track my packages?
You may contact us to get your UPS tracking number and then track your package at www.ups.com.
Q: Can you send me a sample piece?
If you would like a sample, we ask that you purchase a single piece or small assembly. If the product meets the customer needs, then those pieces can be applied to a subsequent order. If the customer is not satisfied, then the product may be returned for a full refund of the product price. The customer pays the shipping on any returns.
Q: Will they match my white trim?
The product is powder-coated in a matte white, similar to Benjamin Moore Super White.
Q: Is there any sales tax?
Sales tax is applied to the following states at the required state rate as follows: MA 5%, CT 6%, and RI 7%.
Q: I have bay windows with 45 degree angles, what can I do?
We have a 45 degree solution. We recommend that you call or email us with those specific requirements to info@go-overboard.com.
Q: My fin tube is 3.5 inches from the wall. What can I do to use the product?
The clearance from the back of the OverBoards panels to the wall is 3”. If your heating element projects further than 3” from the wall, you may need to build out the wall around the heater.
Q: How far do OverBoards project from the wall? I have a tight space with cabinets that may not open.
OverBoards project 4” from the wall.
Q: Do you ship to Canada?
Yes, we frequently ship to Canada via UPS. There is a slight additional shipping fee.
Q: How do I enter custom lengths?
At this time, we recommend that you call 800-835-0121 or 508-339-4500 and/or email info@go-overboard.com with specific length requirements. You may also fax in a request for a quote to 800-372-2676.
